Around-the-world Silversea cruise to include Myanmar
September 24, 2012

Add Silversea Cruises to the list of travel companies touting new trips to Myanmar.

The itinerary for the luxury line's 2014 world cruise, unveiled on Thursday, includes a three-day stay in Yangon, Myanmar as well as overnight stays in nearby Thailand and Vietnam.

The 113-day voyage on the 382-passenger Silver Whisper will kick off Jan. 6, 2014 in Los Angeles and also include stops in Hawaii, Australia, China, Japan and India. The trip ends on April 30, 2014 in Barcelona.

The Silver Whisper will follow a westward path on the voyage, heading across the Pacific and Asia before passing through the Middle East on the way to Europe.

The ship will make 54 port calls in 29 countries in all, with additional stops including ports in Samoa, Tonga, New Zealand, Oman, Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Italy. A dozen overnight calls will include Sydney and Cairns, Australia; Shanghai, China; Singapore and Istanbul, Turkey.

Silversea fans who want to create an even longer world voyage can add a pre-cruise Panama Canal sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles (17 days), or a post-cruise sailing from Barcelona to Lisbon (7days) or Southampton (16 days).

Fares for 113-day cruise range from $54,550 per person for a Vista Suite to $160,450 per person for the Owner's Suite.

The fares include a gala Bon Voyage evening at a luxury Beverly Hills hotel, baggage valet service, complimentary business class flights to and from the ship, ground transfers, an on-board spending credit, complimentary laundry service while on board and commemorative gifts.

Also included are a number of elaborate shore-side events such as a side trip to watch the sunset over the ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia that will involve a flight from Bangkok, Thailand to Siem Reap, Cambodia and an overnight at a five-star hotel. As part of the outing, passengers will dine surrounded by the statues of Bayon Temple.
