CLIA Reports Record Number of Agents Register for National Cruise Week
October 10, 2012
Cruise Lines International Association said a record 6,800 travel agents and agencies have registered to participate in the “World’s Largest Cruise Sale” during National Cruise Vacation Week (NCVW) Oct. 21-27.
Last year, about 6,300 registered. The 25 participating CLIA-member cruise lines are providing special offers to help agents close business during the cruise industry’s single-largest consumer promotion.
Last year, NCVW generated $55 million in cruise sales and more than $7 million in commissions.
To help drive sales, agents can promote consumer offers that include savings of up to $6,000 per couple, free air and two-for-one pricing on luxury cruises; complimentary upgrades or shore excursions; and $1,500 savings per stateroom for river cruises in Europe.
CLIA-member agencies or those that join CLIA this month may continue to register to host in-person or online events at www.ncvw.cruising.org.
Online participants may register to create their own customized, agency-specific, NCVW mini-websites with cruise line promotional videos, special offers and other consumer incentives to cruise, which will be live all October.
CLIA’s NCVW site offers information about setting up the mini-sites, as well as advice on hosting events, how to promote their participation, and marketing and promotional tools and materials, including logos, press release templates, taglines, and postcard and flyer templates.
CLIA also will provide industry-wide publicity; national, regional and local media coverage; and other promotions.
