May 18, 2012
River cruise line AmaWaterways this week unveiled another new ship in Europe, the 164-passenger AmaCerto.
Named at a ceremony in the Danube River town of Vilshofen, Germany, the company's 11th vessel in Europe will sail along the Danube and Rhine rivers this year as well in Dutch and Belgian waterways.
Cruise Lines International Association president Christine Duffy served as godmother of the AmaCerto during the naming ceremony, which featured a 10-gun salute from a brigade of Vilshofen soldiers in traditional Bavarian garb; a performance by a children's dance troupe; and a soprano singer.
The AmaCerto features balconies with many of its cabins and suites, which range up to 350 square feet; multiple dining venues; a heated sun deck swimming pool with a "swim-up" bar; and a fitness center and spa. Amenities on the ship's sailings will include complimentary Internet and wine with dinner.
