BA announces flights to Seoul following BMI takeover
May 3, 2012

British Airways will start flying to Seoul in December in the first addition to its long-haul schedule following parent company IAG’s purchase of BMI.

BA will operate six flights a week to the South Korean capital from December 2. Seats went on sale from today. The carrier last flew to Seoul between 1996 and 1998.

IAG chief executive Willie Walsh said the BMI purchase, completed last month, and addition of slots at Heathrow would allow BA to launch new long-haul routes.

BA commercial director Drew Crawley said: “We have seen significant growth in customers wanting to travel to Seoul for both business and pleasure. Equally, there are vast numbers of South Korean companies wishing to come to the UK to do business. “

The carrier will operate the service with a Boeing 777 configured with four cabins: First class, Club World (business class), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy).

Prices from Heathrow start from £798 return in economy and £2,599 in Club World. BA is offering similar fares from the UK regions, including £799 from Manchester and £798 from Glasgow.
