Norwegian Exercises Option to Purchase of Norwegian Sky
June 4, 2012
Norwegian Cruise Line signed a memorandum of agreement to exercise its option to purchase the 2,002-berth Norwegian Sky.
The company said the transaction is “expected to close shortly.”
Norwegian currently operates Norwegian Sky under a bareboat charter with a purchase option from Ample Avenue, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Genting Hong Kong Limited, which owns 50 percent owner of Norwegian.
The purchase price is approximately $260 million. Ample Avenue is providing financing for the ship’s purchase.
The 1999-built Norwegian Sky operates three and four-night voyages year-round from Miami.
