New Carnival cruise ship, Breeze, to debut this weekend
June 1, 2012
Industry giant Carnival today took delivery of its newest cruise ship, the 3,690-passenger Carnival Breeze.
Under construction for nearly two years at the Fincantieri shipyard near Trieste, Italy, the 130,000-ton vessel is scheduled to set sail on its maiden voyage on Sunday -- a 12-night Mediterranean sailing out of Venice.
With its addition, the line will have 24 ships at sea.
The Carnival Breeze has several new-for-the-line features including a full-service sushi restaurant and an immersive, special effects-laden theater experience called the Thrill Theater. Read about how the theater will work.
A sister to the year-old Carnival Magic, the vessel also has an expansive deck-top sports complex called SportSquare and a water slide area called WaterWorks. Take our photo tour of the Carnival Magic.
The Carnival Breeze will operate a series of Mediterranean voyages out of Barcelona through Oct. 25 before heading across the Atlantic on a 15-day repositioning cruise to the USA. On Nov. 24, the ship will begin year-round, six- and eight-day Caribbean cruises out of Miami.
