Flybe extends deal with Brussels Airlines

Regional airline Flybe has extended a deal to operate more flights for Brussels Airlines.

Flybe is to provide two extra Bombardier Q400 aircraft in additional to the two Q400s it is already operating for Brussels Airlines.

Under the two-year deal, these flights will carrier the Brussels Airlines’ livery, but will operate under Flybe’s Airline Operating Certificate (AOC) and will be crewed by its pilots and cabin crew. The new aircraft will begin operating for Brussels Airlines in early September and late October.

Flybe CEO Jim French said: “That we have been invited to provide further contract flying services to such a well-respected European operator is, we believe, testament to our established and growing reputation for the provision of high quality regional aviation services.

“Brussels Airlines is 45% owned by Lufthansa Group, for whom Flybe already performs a significant amount of maintenance work on its regional fleet.

“Flybe's independence has enabled it to enter into a range of commercial relationships with major airline groups such as Lufthansa, Air France KLM, IAG and Finnair.”

The deal means that by the end of this year, around 25 per cent of Flybe’s aircraft fleet will be operating under contract flying for other carriers. Flybe also has a similar arrangement with Finnair.
