British Airways takes over seven Bmi destinations
June 6, 2012
British Airways has converted another seven Bmi destinations to its codes and flights numbers.
Bmi services to and from Aberdeen, Amman, Beirut, Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester now have BA codes and numbers although the schedules remain the same.
It is the second tranche of Bmi flights to be moved over to BA – nine destinations were transferred to BA last month, including Agadir, Bergen, Hanover, Nice and Vienna.
BA baggage policies now apply for all bookings for these destinations made from today (June 6) but Bmi policies will apply to bookings made before the changeover.
“These changes are part of plans to integrate Bmi into British Airways for the start of the winter season, with the gradual transition of flights during the summer,” said BA in a statement.
“During this period, the exterior and interior design of Bmi’s aircraft, as well as the onboard experience will gradually transform into British Airways’ style.”
BA is committed to running Bmi’s planned schedule until the end of the summer programme. It will then start new routes to destinations such as Seoul, Zagreb, Rotterdam and Leeds-Bradford for winter 2012-13.
“Any customer with a booking on a Bmi route not listed above can continue to fly as normal,” added BA. “The flights continue to be operated by Bmi and all dates, times and terminal details remain the same. We continue to work through our plans for these final Bmi routes and will update customers as soon as possible.”
The deal to sell Bmi Regional, based in Aberdeen, to Scottish consortium Sector Aviation Holdings for £8 million has now been completed.
