American Cruise Lines to launch San Juan Islands voyage
June 16, 2012
Small ship operator American Cruise Lines is adding an itinerary around Washington State's San Juan Islands.
The "Puget Sound and San Juan Islands" sailings will kick off April 6, 2013, on the line's 100-passenger American Spirit and focus on the wildlife and small towns of the region.
The trips will begin and end in Seattle and include stops in Washington State's Anacortes, Friday Harbor, Port Townsend and Poulsbo.
American Cruise Lines already offers sailings in the Pacific Northwest on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, and this month, the company began its first trips in Alaska.
"Following the terrific response to our Alaska and Columbia and Snake River itineraries, Puget Sound was a natural next step," American Cruise Lines Vice President Timothy Beebe said in making the announcement.
"Our further expansion into the Pacific Northwest adds even more variety to the unique, yet close-to-home cruises we offer."
American Cruise Lines is known for its small ship sailings in U.S. waters including a number of itineraries on the East Coast, and it will soon add voyages on the Mississippi River complex.
