InnerSea Discoveries to deploy second ship in Hawaii
July 21, 2012

Looking for an adventurous way to explore multiple Hawaiian islands? You might want to take a look at the newest offering from adventure cruise company InnerSea Discoveries.

The Seattle-based line has begun selling seven-night voyages around Hawaii on a second vessel, the 76-passenger Wilderness Explorer, that include stops for hiking, kayaking and snorkeling on four islands.

Scheduled to begin in late 2013, the sailings will be one-way, seven-night trips between Oahu and the Big Island that include visits to Oahu's Ka'ena Point State Park and Wai'anae Harbor; the Big Island's Honomalino Bay, Opihihali and Kailua-Kona; Maui; Lana'i; and the Humpback National Marine Sanctuary.

Highlights of the voyage will include snorkeling at Molokini's undersea volcanic crater; a night snorkel with giant Pacific manta rays; watching whales and dolphins; and guided hikes exploring scenic areas on all four islands. Expert naturalists will provide interpretation on guided excursions ashore and at sea.

The Wilderness Explorer is joining the company's more upscale, 36-passenger Safari Explorer in sailing in Hawaii during winters (the Safari Explorer began spending winters in Hawaii in late 2011). Based in Alaska during summers, the Wilderness Explorer's first season in Hawaii will last from November 2013 through April 2014. Read more about the Safari Explorer's Hawaii itinerary.

InnerSea Discoveries is known for expedition-style cruises aimed at outdoorsy, adventure-minded vacationers, and the Wilderness Explorer carries kayaks that passengers can take out from a specially built platform on the back of the ship as well as a skiff that is used to take passengers exploring. Fares for the new Hawaii sailings start at $2,495 per person, based on double occupancy. More information is available online at the company's website.
