Holland America to Base Seven Ships in Europe in 2013

Holland America Line will deploy seven ships to Europe in summer 2013. The ships -- Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Prinsendam, Rotterdam, Ryndam and Veendam -- will operate 107 departures across the Mediterranean and from the northern tip of Norway to the Black Sea.

Ranging from seven to 64 days, these cruises include maiden calls in Alanya, Turkey; Alcudia (Mallorca), Spain; Galway and Killybegs, Ireland; Hydra and Igoumenitsa, Greece; and Sassnitz, Germany.

Twenty overnight stays are scheduled in popular ports, including Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Barcelona, Spain; Bordeaux, France; Copenhagen, Denmark; Dublin, Ireland; Venice, Italy; Hamburg, Germany; St. Petersburg, Russia; Istanbul, Turkey; and more.

Ryndam’s new seven-day “Turkish Explorer” will sail roundtrip from Piraeus (Athens), Greece, with calls in Turkey and Greece, including an overnight stay in Istanbul. Cruise fares begin at $1,099 per person, double occupancy.

The seven-day “Homeric Quest” voyage also aboard Ryndam sails roundtrip from Piraeus and will visit five Greek ports, as well as Ephesus in Turkey. Cruise fares begin at $1,099 per person, double occupancy.

Eurodam’s 11-day “Mediterranean Odyssey” sails roundtrip from Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, with an overnight at Piraeus and visits to Kerkira (Corfu), Katakolon (Olympia) and Santorini, Greece, as well as two calls at the Italian ports of Messina and Naples. Cruise fares begin at $1,499 per person, double occupancy.

Also new for 2013 is the 11-day “Ancient Mysteries” voyage sailing between Piraeus and Istanbul aboard Noordam. This itinerary calls at Port Said, Egypt, the gateway to Cairo. Cruise fares begin at $1,699 per person, double occupancy.
