Lindblad Expeditions Extends Delfin II Operation in Peru

Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic renewed its agreement to be the exclusive U.S. tour operator of the Delfin II on the Peruvian Amazon River for 2013.

The move comes after Lindblad doubled the number of departures it offered in 2012, to 38. It will offer the same number in 2013.

Lindblad controls all sales and marketing of the vessel in the U.S., and is responsible for all bookings for Lindblad’s 10-day expeditions exploring Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve aboard the 28-passenger riverboat.

Also, starting with the first voyage in January, all the Delfin II Amazon voyages will have a Lindblad-National Geographic certified photo instructor onboard.

Lindblad began its relationship with Delfin Amazon Cruises in 2010. Built in 2009, the Delfin ll is a 120-foot luxury river vessel that features a modern design with Peruvian woods and open spaces.

Guest accommodations include four master suites and 10 suites, four of which can be interconnected to accommodate families. Delfin II is the only ship on the Peruvian Amazon with a fleet of kayaks. The ship’s dining is prepared almost entirely from local ingredients from the rainforest.

Rates for the 10-day “Upper Amazon: Exploring Peru’s Pacaya-Samiria Reserve” begin at $5,590 per person based on double occupancy for 2012 departures, and $5,870 for 2013 departures.

The voyage can be combined with pre- or post-voyage expeditions to Galápagos or Machu Picchu, or a post-voyage extension to Paracas and the Nasca Lines.
