EVA Air Offering New Service to Myanmar from North America

EVA Air, used often by travelers seeking to fly to Vietnam from the U.S., is now offering service to Yangon, the gateway to Myanmar. The service will begin Oct. 9 with three flights per week.

EVA flight BR287 will depart Taoyuan International Airport at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and arrive at Yangon International Airport at 10:35 a.m. Return flight BR288 will leave Yangon at 11:35 a.m. and land in Taoyuan at 5:30 p.m. on the same day. Flight time between Taipei and Yangon is four hours and 20 minutes.

With most flights from North America arriving in the early morning, one-stop connections will be especially convenient for passengers. EVA officials anticipate that 30 percent or more of its seats on the Taipei-Yangon route will be filled by passengers from North America, connecting through Taipei to the Myanmar flight.

EVA is working with travel agents to create tour packages for independent travelers and groups that will include a variety of cultural experiences, from ancient monuments to local cuisines. The tours will be journeys of discovery for travelers as they explore ancient cities, fishing villages and unexpected landscapes.

To start, EVA will fly its new Taipei-Yangon route with a McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft configured with 12 business class and 140 economy seats.

During the second quarter of 2013, the carrier plans to introduce a new Airbus 321 with capacity for 184 passengers. The airline will adjust its aircraft and frequency as the market demands.
