June 18, 2010
The U.S. Travel Association spent $356,000 in the first quarter to lobby the federal government on travel legislation, home security and other issues, according to a disclosure report.
That's up 15 percent from the $308,500 that the group spent in the year-ago period, and 42 percent more than the $250,000 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
The group, formerly called the Travel Industry Association of America, also lobbied the federal government on legislation involving travel programs, visa policy and homeland security, according to the report filed on April 20.
In the January-to-March period, the group lobbied Congress, the executive office of the president, the Department of Homeland Security, the Transportation Security Administration and other departments, according to the report filed with the House clerk's office.
