Latest Travel News:
Travel operator to increase Aberdeen flights
January 12, 2010
Holiday firm Thomas Cook are expanding their destinations from Aberdeen Airport.
The move follows the demise of Scots airline Flyglobespan last year.
Thomas Cook will fly additional routes to Turkey as well as other previously planned services to Ibiza, Palma and Majorca.
Aberdeen Airport say it is hopeful that other gaps in the destination schedule left by Flyglobespan will be filled.
The firm was due to start flying routes to Benidorm, Dubrovnik, Paphos, Dalaman, Faro, Malaga and Parma before it went into administration in December.
Around 800 jobs were lost and thousands of travellers were left stranded after the airline folded.
Today administrators appointed to the firm will attempt to have the airline’s credit card payment company E-Clear put into administration at the High Court in London.
It has subsequently emerged that E-Clear owed Flyglobespan around £35million.
