Summer travel in Europe is getting cheaper
June 11, 2010

Summer travel in Europe is getting cheaper, according to figures released June 9 by hotel price comparison site Trivago.

The average price of a night in a European hotel is €116, a fall of six percent from May and the first decrease in average prices this year.

Even better, the decline in prices has been led by some of the region's most popular cities, including Barcelona, down 24 percent; Turin, down 29 percent; and Seville, down 16 percent. Milan, Brussels, Munich, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf are now offering their best room rates to date, according to Trivago, while a 12 percent fall in price has brought the price of a room in London back to its yearly average.

Geneva retains its crown as Europe's most expensive city, while Hanover was the cheapest indexed by Trivago, at only €78 per night.
