New govt measure to simplify travel to US
May 25, 2010

The US Travel Association has welcomed a new measure implemented by America's Department of Homeland Security, led by Janet Napolitano, to streamline the entry process for international visitors.

Travelers from nations that are covered by the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) - including the UK, Ireland, Germany and France - will no longer need to submit the I-94W form upon arrival at their port of entry in the US.

All foreign visitors are still required to gain approval via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization.

Roger Dow, president and chief executive of the US Travel Association, said the elimination of the paper form for people from VWP countries will 'help reduce confusion and increase the speed of processing for millions of our guests'.

He added: 'With full implementation of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, the United States is proving that it can simultaneously strengthen security and improve our customers' experience.

'We will continue to work in support of Secretary Napolitano's efforts to make America's entry process both safe and welcoming.'
