BEIJING, CHINA: Despite the ongoing tussle with big brother China over censorship, Internet search giant Google has launched a map search service in China targetting the travellers taking trips during the Lunar New Year holiday season.
"The service is available online now," an AFP report quoted Google China spokeswoman Marsha Wang as saying on Tuesday. According to her the Google Spring Festival Map is based on the company's regular map service but has more features targeting users' special needs during this month's holiday.
Lunar New Year holiday season is the busiest travel period of the year in China, she said.
Recently, Google had said it might pull out of China, the world's largest Internet market by users, because it is no longer willing to accept censorship of its search results. Following the row Google had even announced that it would stop censoring Web search results in China shortly.
The issue reached to such a proportion that it even threatened the US-China relations. While China tried to downplay the issue, it also ascertained its control over cyber space. Following the tussle US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton even condemned the cyber attacks.
Despite the row, Google still have operations in China and the latest launch indicates that it is business as usual at Google China's headquarters in Beijing.
After all, the show must go on, isnt' it?
